It is an instinctive feature that the dogs do not tolerate any other dog around or near them. They try to beat the other and make it flee from their boundaries. They bark on one another and turn aggressive and their aggressive barking can lead even to dog bite. At night, they spend the most of their time in barking at other dogs. They retaliate the barking of other dogs and go on till morning dawns. It is their behavior against the outside dogs. But if they find any other dog at home, they adopt the same aggression in the beginning. With a little training, they learn how to live in a perfect harmony with the other dog.
Do not leave them alone in the beginning
If both of them are of the same sex, it is better to keep them separate from each other. The old dog needs more attention at this stage. It will react to the new comer. Introduce the both at meals and feed them together. The old dog will slowly learn from your closeness to the new dog at home. It will help to develop a familiarity and cordial relations between them.
Play with the new and the old dog
Another effective strategy is to play a game with your old and new dog together. It will create an acquaintance between or among them and they will be the friends. Playing with balls or bubbles can be the good options to engage them together.
Dogs of the opposite sexes can make friends
If the dogs are opposite in sex, it is easy to create adaptability in them. Their instinct will bring them closer to each other. They will easily handle each other. You need not to worry about them.
